WHICH CLASS SHOULD I TAKE?
If you are new to Swing Out, South Florida progressive classes, we ask that you start your journey with us in Foundations. Foundations is an all-level class - it's perfect for: brand new beginners, folks still perfecting 6 & 8 count and Charleston footwork patterns, more experienced dancers looking to re-establish a strong foundation or simply shake off some rust, or anyone who wants to start learning their non-primary role. Foundations is a four-class series and the classes can be taken in any order. No partner or experience needed.
WHAT IF I HAVE PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE?
We regularly have students join us who've learned from a lot of different places and instructors. The style and fundamentals we're teaching don't always align with what other organizations teach. We need everyone in class to share the same foundations for the sake of both student safety and group progress, so we ask everyone to start with our Foundations courses. If you are an intermediate or advanced dancer and think Core would be a better fit, please email us to chat about it!

CAN I TAKE CORE CLASS?
Core is our more advanced class. To be eligible for Core Class, you must: complete the four Foundations classes and/or be approved by the instructor team.
There is not a standard timeline for this - everyone is on their own dance journey! The idea is not that you've checked all the boxes, but that everyone in the Core Class is both comfortable and confident with the material and concepts covered in the Foundations courses. This allows: you to get the most out of your class, for the best learning environment for each class collectively, and allows students to have a clear idea of the expectations of the different courses.
A full list of what we’re looking for can be found HERE. When you feel like you can dance the material listed comfortably, confidently, on time, and with good rhythm, reach out to our instructor team about moving up into Core! If the instructor team agrees that you'd be a good fit for the class, you'll join the following month's Core Class for a trial session. And no sweat - if you try it out and feel like Core isn't the best place for you, you can always jump right back into Foundations!
If you think you might be ready but you're not sure, you can always reach out to the instructor team to talk about it! We're always happy to chat about where you're at in your dance journey, how you're feeling about it, and to give feedback on what you can focus on - which can include recommendations for how you can get closer to moving into Core.

CLASS POLICIES
MISSED CLASS: The cost of individual missed classes will not be deducted from the cost of the current or future class sessions. If you register for a monthly session and need to miss more than 3 classes, we will happily roll your class pass over to a future session - please reach out to us if this happens for you!
ATTENDANCE: These lessons build on each other over the course of the session. Some classes cover a LOT of material and sometimes missing one can make you feel left in the dust - but life happens and sometimes classes have to be missed. If you miss a class, please arrange to meet with a fellow student or one of our instructors outside of class to get caught up before the next class. We don't want folks who miss a class to feel overwhelmed or frustrated and we can't waste all the other students' valuable class time to catch that person up.
ILLNESS: We are dedicated to the health and wellbeing of our students. As a courtesy to your instructors and fellow students, please stay home and rest if you aren't feeling 100%. Even if you’re confident it’s “just allergies”, we dance in close proximity with our partners and nobody wants to get a cough or sneeze to the face. If you come to class with active symptoms that could potentially be contagious, you may be asked to leave class and rest up at home!
DROP IN: Want to try out one class before committing to 4 weeks? We welcome Drop In students for just the first two weeks of each month. You must be new to SOSF classes to qualify for Drop In. Drop In classes are $25 per 1 Class. If you'd like to try a Drop In class, no registration is required ahead of time and you may pay before class with Cash, Credit, or Debit. Exceptions may be made for advanced or out-of-town traveling dancers - please email us if interested.
