Wednesday Night Swing
*Wednesday Night Swing - Intro Beginner Class 7.30-8.30 PM ( Every other Wednesday - DJ/TEACHER LINEUP AND SCHEDULE)
You are brand new to Lindy Hop and never danced this before. These classes offer an introduction to mostly 6 ct patterns in Lindy Hop. You will be learning the fundamentals of connecting with your partner and the music we affectionately call swing. You don't need a partner, we're rotating partners during class so everyone will dance.
Each week, after our lessons, we offer a 2 1/2 hour Social Dance. What is a social dance? It’s an opportunity to make new friends, practice what you learned, and eat our free snacks. We encourage all of our dancers, regardless of level, to hang out and dance with everyone.
Things to bring to your first class:
*Comfy clothes you don’t mind sweating in. Shorts, t-shirts, skirts and dresses are all recommended. Cotton is your friend.
* Shoes that slide. No dance shoes? No problem. Just try to wear shoes that won’t fly off your feet and have little to no tread on their soles. For example, running shoes have a lot of tread. Keds and Converse shoes have very little tread.
* Your body. Over the past few years, you may have noticed that you have one of these. It is very difficult to dance without one, so please don’t leave yours at home.
*Your sense of fun. The first rule of swing dancing is to enjoy yourself. The second rule of swing dancing is to enjoy yourself. Don’t pressure yourself to get everything perfect the first time; just relax and be prepared to do weird and goofy things. Swing dancing is, by nature, silly.
